3D Modeling and Animation

3D Modeling

3D Modeling and animations play a big role in today's visual effect industry. Most new flicks make heavy use of computer generated imagery, ranging from subtle effects to spaceships and monsters the size of a skyscraper. We can do that too. And more. Just ask, really.

We use Blender as our main tool for 3D modeling and animation. "What?!" you might say, "A free program made for geek kids in a real-world production environment?!"... Well, yes.

We've been using other software in the past. We used to pay expensive licenses. We used to wait a year or so for any new features, since we had to wait the developers to get the new version ready and make us pay even more to get our hands on them.

We already knew about Blender, we also used it from time to time, and about a year ago, we decided we're moving to Open Source. This might sound like an extreme decision, but given the (constantly accelerating) speed of Blender development, it's now massive feature set (some features are even BETTER than their commercial counterparts), the fact that features are constantly added and bugs constantly fixed and the possibilities Open Source gives to final users (with some programming knowledge), the decidion was natural.

If you still think Blender is for kids only, or not "professional" enough, you may want to check the latest Blender Foundation's Open Movie - Big Buck Bunny . It's a short 3D animated movie made (almost) entirely with Open Source Software (OSS). Once you've seen it, we really doubt you'll have anything bad to say about Blender.

So, if you need anything 3D for your next movie, commercial or music video, give us a chance to prove once again that it's not the tool, but the artist that matters.
